resolution probs with dell 3007 monitor

just purchased a dell dimension e520, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB) with 2MB cache, 4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE TurboCache graphics card, and it's windows xp.

with it i purchased the dell 3007 30" monitor. my main goal is to fit 9 applications on one screen. the 2560x1600 pixel resolution is supposed to accomplish this. for example here is a fellow online poker player's set up on his 30" mac with the same resolution:

when i go to 2560x1600 res my windows don't get much smaller. instead they go offscreen and i have scroll around with my mouse to find it. very annoying and not what i'm looking for. please tell me there is something i can do. i spent 4 hours online with an incompetent dell support rep, and he accomplished nothing. i want my monitor to fit 9 windows on the screen exactly like the above picture.

any suggestions,

eric

ps: those poker tables in the pic are from software that doesn't allow you to manually condense each table, so please don't suggest that. that is not what i am looking for.

it seems my video card doesn't support 2560x1600 resolution. any suggestions on a good name brand that does? for example looking up some prices at hdtvmagazine.com an evga is $355 while a sapphire is $70. why such a discrepency?
