The other day, a user from another country on a social networking site posted a dodgy link which I accidentally clicked. Me, and my friend's internet (or WiFi) wasn't working well for a short period after. She admitted to DDoSing using that link, which is being reported to the site's staff and one of them is attempting to report her to local authorities.

However, I was told to "reset my IP address", by contacting my ISP or getting a new router. After doing such, they told me to reset my router (details about my router at bottom) by turning it off and back on it, or paying £70 for a new one. I admit, I did not do such a good job at explaining the situation to them, but are they right?? Has my IP been reset now, as I have restarted it.

During the attack last night, I had restarted my modem also but it didn't seem to fix the problem (it could be because I didn't wait 20 seconds before turning it back on again, like today).

Please help! I hope I'm safe now.

I am currently a customer of Sky broadband, and they have provided me with a modem and built in wireless router.
