Hi all,

Can someone tell me the best way to rescue files on an old fat32 drive to XP (NTFS)?

I tried to set it up as a master and salve (did the jumpers).
Can see it in the bios, and in the XP disk management utility but not in explorer?

Am I doomed to find an old system to hook it up to?

in disk management see if you can assign a letter to it.
if you can, then put the # in explorer the stuff should be there.
computers like to format drives when they get added to a computer, but worst thing would be to buy a program to get the data off of it.

Could not assign a letter. But maybe don't know how to do it either. :)

Also, what kind of program would help with this?

Maul:

what happens when you go into disk management and right click on the new slave drive and choose properties / what does this report

you should then be able to go to my computer and see the drive in there and click on it ??????

what does the bios info say about the drive on boot up ?????? is it listed and identified correctly (maker & size)

is auto dectect IDE drives enabled in the bios ????

is your slave on the primary cable with the master drive / does the master drive have its jumpers set to master / then set slave to slave ????
is the slave in the middle of the IDE cable ?????

post back with your findings

regards

joe
