I want to run a program that is to much for my PC so obviously it needs updating... I currently have a PII Slot-1 Motherboard with 500Mhz (100Mhz) installed in my case and can't find the Intel PIII 700Mhz processor to upgrade it. (that is the largest it will support) How do I know what motherboard I can use to replace it to get more power to run my apps.

Hello kbon and welcome to Tech Support Forums..............:D

Who makes your motherboard and have you checked their website for bios upgrades?

Thank you for your response Speedo. Maybe I didn't give enough info to start this string...
DFI made the motherboard (ATX) and I'm not sure if a Bios upgrade will help.
I want to run a flight simulator program with joystick and throttle but the PII 500Mhz keeps freezing up. I'm thinking I need to get a newer motherboard with a bigger processor, maybe 1.0 Ghz or so to run this properly.
What are your thoughts on this? :dontknow:

DFI makes a lot of motherboards and if you could give us the model number we can look it up and see what is the max CPU speed for this board.

The box that Flight Simulator came with will tell you the Min. requirements needed.

Board is a 500/100 Mhz P2XBL rev D+ motherboard, Intel 440BX AGPset chipset.

Technically I have 384 RAM in the box. (3 x 128MB SDRAM) I know one runs better then 3...

Joystick says Win 98 or 2000 and the Sim (I have two Combat Flight Simulators by Microsoft) saying 266 Mhz and Pentium 133 or faster and I am well above that but it still locks up when I try to test the game.

Thanks for your help.

Try running Scandisk and Defrag and when that is done try using Ctrl, Alt, Delete and closing everything except Explorer and Systray and then try running it.
