hello all,

I've been using safari for quite some time. To be honest, I'm happy with it. It does what I need without all the hype. Its been working well until recently. I had the STUPID notion of installing a Mcafee plug in and it screwed it all up. Now it resets safari every time I open it so I have to go back and do the unchecking of boxes and all that nonsense. It also became uber slow. I've tried to look on the apple website to see if apple has the download but to no avail. HOW IN THE HECK DO I FIX THIS? Why doesn't Apple have a download for us Mac users?

That I don't know. I've always treated it as a virus, so I've never dealt with it. Have you gone into the plugin screen and made sure it was gone?

Yeah I did. It doesn't show as a plugin. As far as I know I deleted it. That and norton are both the same. I should've trusted previous experience. Is there a way to re-install safari?

I use Firefox over Safari, mainly for bookmark syncing between computers.

This whole no physical media thing is not good on Apple's part, very hard to fix things without it. You could see if you can download the OS X installer from the Mac App Store. If you can, then we'd use software that'll open it and allow you to select the installer package of Safari and run it without doing the whole OS. As for Time Machine, you could try that on Safari, but I'm not too sure how well it'd work since we don't know where all the bits are on the hard drive.
