hey everyone, I am having problems repairing a customers computer. The computer has windows XP Home on it and i have backed-up all of her files. The computer doesn't boot so i decided to try and repair Windows from the CD. Everything was going smooth when all of the sudden the computer shut off and in the front a green and amber light are blinking at the same time. Any ideas?

I would be looking at a faulty motherboard. It seems like something is interferring with the power distribution and the 1st think that comes to my mind is the motherboard.

Boot it with only psu attached to motherboard and disconnect the power cables from all other drives and see if one of the other devices is the cause and remove all cards from motherboard. Boot with only power connected. No monitor and see what happens. Atleast you will narrow the issue to motherboard, ram, cpu.

Right now you are looking at process of elimination.
