How can I remove an app from an android tablet?

Chrome has become infected and is unusable

It I plug into the computer, I can't see any apps.

uninstall Chrome from the tablet perhaps? (tap apps in upper right corner, settings from the list of apps, tap apps to the left, manage to the right...or some such)

Or why are you connecting the tablet to your computer? I didn't even know that could be done.
I am sure someone will have the right answer soon if you can't delete Chrome and reinstall it from the tablet itself.

OK I told it to uninstall, it asked to update, I agreed and it seems the problem went away.

I plug into the computer to charge and to transfer files.
I thought I should be able to see all the apps in "internal storage".
