remote desktop HELP

Alright well I have been trying for days to get my remote desktop to work. The problem is on my Vista ultimate computer. I have "allow remote desktop...." checked, I went into windows firewall and made sure remote desktop was allowed, I added tcp 3389 port to the firewall (just in case), I installed sp2 and updated it to current everything. When I try to remote desktop to it, nothing works. I am doing this over a home network so I am just using my IP. I can ping the IP from my windows 7 computer and have no failure but cant rdp to it. I can get on it and remote to the windows 7 computer no problem so I know I am not doing anything wrong as far as that part. What can it be? Is there something in my windows vista computer that is blocking it from being remote desktoped? I have tried everything and no success. I need some help please

Welcome to TSF,

Setting up Remote Desktop sometimes can be difficult. Please verify your current setup with this link.

Have you also considered TeamViewer? It's hassle free.
Teamviewer is the way to go, it's free unless used commercially
remove the 3389 entry from the firewall. You don't need it when on a lan. I suspect it is blocking not allowing.
