I would like to be able to connect to 3 different computers at three different locations remotely to administer some documents. The 3 computers are not networked although they are connected to the internet through a wired router.
Is there free software available that would enable me to do this? If not is there software i can purchase and can anyone provide a recommendation?
Thanks
Dave
As someone who has experience in the field I can give a couple of recommendations including our own product. In order for this post
not to be considered as blatant advertising I also list our most prominent competitors and their pros. I won't give cons so that not to violate business ethics and will try to stay objective.
Radmin
This product is one of the most popular on the market. Pros: very good speed (one of the highest) and simple to use. In fact, it has been very popular with system administrators for many years and rightfully so.
TeamViewer (free for personal use)
Skyrocketed in recent years due to their clever PR strategy.

They simply offered a free version of their product for personal use which helped them build initial follower base. That worked out well and now everyone knows about TeamViewer.

ray: Good option if you seek a free tool for personal use. The paid version is good for Helpdesk providers.
LogMeIn (has a
free version)
LogMeIn offers different variations of remote access tools for both PC and Mac. They also have a free tool called Hamachi for building a VPN tunnel. In fact, if you want to use, say, Radmin, and want to still be able to bypass a router you can install Hamachi first and then use Radmin to connect over the VPN tunnel.
GoToMyPC
GoToMyPC is subscription-based, and has a free trial for 30 days. Very good in terms of speed and user interface. There are different options best viewed in the form of this
table.
Our own
Remote Utilities
It was built primarily with system administration in mind. However, the Internet Id option also helps you to bypass router using a special id instead of an IP address (an approach similar to TeamViewer's).
Hope that information was helpful.
