Reinstalling Windows Vista

I'm not a professional, so when I reinstalled windows on my dell laptop I just put the windows disc in and went to the boot menu, than I just followed the directions given in the reinstallation process. I'm not sure what I did wronge but when I finished the installation everything was like zoomed in, up close, and I couldn't even connect my internet up, or anything. Anyway can someone please tell me what went wrong when I was doing this? I have to reinstall it again, so this is really important. Thanks!

Go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Does it show a lot of exclamation points next to your devices?

If so, go to this link at Dell: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
and enter your Service Tag number
Download the stuff that you see on the page and install it.

Post back with any errors that you may get, and with any devices that still have ? marks when you're done.
