Hi
I always seemed to have a problem with Windows 98 SE startup. I recently brought a reconditioned pc because of this and am about to give my old one to a friend. I want to try to reinstall Windows 98 on her computer - can somebody tell me a) if this is feasible and b) will she lose all the information and/or programmes left on the pc? I am hoping to eradicate the start-up problem this way (this prob started when trying to install Norton Antivirus, when the pc crashed half way through installation - when restarting, I tried to start install again but the pc detected Norton already installed and now I cannot uninstall or reinstall it!)
Can I reinstall Windows 98 and is it likely to prevent this start-up problem if I do? As you can see from the above, I am a complete beginner with this so please keep any explanations really simple for me! Many thanks.

You should be able to fix this. Go to Symantec.com and search for RNAV ... this is the removal tool that will get rid of the partial install. You should be able to run it in safe mode.
