I am trying to help someone who is having trouble opening Outlook Express.
They keep getting the message that msoe.dll cannot be initiated.

She is running XP Home with IE7 and SP3 which came on the comp when she bought it. I thought that uninstalling IE7 and reinstalling would help but have found out that you cannot uninstall IE 7 with SP3. You must uninstall SP3 first and then IE7.

Unfortunetly SP3 is not listed in the Add/Remove program even when I check the "show updates" box. So, I'm at a standstill. She does have the installation disk but I don't want to do a clean install unless that's the only choice.

I'm not sure how to do a repair reinstall so if some one has any ideas on how to solve this problem I would certainly appreciate your input. My comp is the same except it has SP2 and I have no problems with any of these issues. Don't want to ramble on and hope I haven't made things as clear as "mud". Thanks

Doing anything with IE won't help this. What you need to do is to go into Add/Remove Programs and switch to Add/Remove Windows Components. Remove OE, restart and go back to the same place to put it back. You may need an XP install disk to do this, but probably not.

Off topic: Next time, please don't use such a large font. It made this very difficult to read on my little netbook.
