Hi, I would like to ask if how I could reformat my Maxtor Harddrive 40GB?
Is there a software to use for fixing bad sectors in a hard drive?
Please help, Thanks.

then format it

I removed the files using [email protected]killdisk but I was not able to format it has an error 'format is not completed'.

Bad sectors are a physical fault. Physical faults cannot be repaired with software. Utilities such as killdisk don't actually repair bad sectors but allow the drive to replace them with spares reserved for the purpose. The problem is that there are only a limited number available for this purpose. If killdisk is giving errors then it appears that this limit has been reached. Thus, you need to replace the drive.

I'm pretty sure that the bootable diagnostic tools like Maxblast and western digitals tool will mark the bad sectors so that windows will not write or attemp to read from them.
