I'm trying to Reformat an old IBM Thinkpad (Pentium 2 processor) that had a trial version of Windows XP on it. However it won't even boot the operating system, it comes up with an error page that asks to test all the systems or restart. I've gone into the BIOS and changed to boot from CD with a Windows 98 disk in the drive. The error message still comes up. Then I tried booting from a floppy that had Windows 95, I either got the same message or a black screen with some numbers, I couldn't type anything either. After this I checked the systems and they all came back OK, motherboard, processor etc.... I know the floppy and the CD work because I tested them on an old Gateway PC.
So since the CD AND floppy will not work is there anyway I can reformat without going into the command prompt?
