I have a certain virus on my computer and I wish to reformat it. However the system disc that came with my computer gives the instruction to restart your computer and during POST press F2 to enter the BIOS setup. But no matter how many times i try, it doesnt work and all I hear is a beep I never heard before.

Can someone help?

hmm then have you tried resetting your CMOS? try that an see if it lets you boot ( you will lose time/date, power on password, an any kind of special timings or configs trying this )

look on your motherboard there should be a jumper that should be isolated from the rest. theres three pins, two of which should be covered by the jumper an one uncovered. simply move the jumper over one wait about 15 seconds and move it back. if you cant seem to find it check your manual see if it lists where it is on the motherboard diagram..........if you find out you dont have one you'll need to remove the battery for about a minute an then replace it.

You should have an F key that when held down along with the Fn key at powerup will change your booting order so that you can set CD-ROM as the first boot order device. When you put your restore CD in it should load automatically. On my Dell computer it is Fn + F12.
