Over the years, I have reformated my HD under Win9X & reinstalled the OS, programs & restored my files from backup. This is the first time I am going thru this procedure under WinXP. What are the specific steps I need to follow to reformat my HD? How do I re-activate WinXP? My file system is NTFS. I have a 2nd 20MB NTFS HD which I will leave intact.

Re-activating isn't a problem.
After 6 mos. Microsoft will accept your re-activation automatically. if they don't, there is a number to call and they let you re-activate.

I haven't run into any re-activation problems. I suspect the whole hulabuloo about re-activation may be a myth.

No Myth.........

I did a reload last year then did an activation that went smooth. Two weeks later I decided to install a new motherboard, cpu and rdram. It was after that new install that I had to make the call... It wasn't all that bad it only took a few minutes. They did ask why I was doing another reload so soon and I had to explain the whole situation to them. All in all it wasn't a bad XPerience................LOL
