i have a red dot in my quick launch ''toolbar'' when i mouse over it, it says ''your activity is recorded'' if i click it a new box opens and asks for a password to access viewer.
i have tried system restore but it did not work, i have also started in safe mode without networking but it still boots with windows.
it doesn't seem to have any adverse effect on the pc, but it is really annoying.
i have run spybot and adaware and also norton, but none of them find it.
i would be very grateful for any help with this problem.

thanks griff.

Hi and welcome to TSF.

Does anyone else have access to your computer?

Can you right click on the icon and look at properties?

I too have this problem but I note it only appears after you have loaded Internet Explorer, when you close explorer it disappears. My concern is that if its a key logger its recording credit card numbers and stuff like that !?!?!?

Any help welcome. thanks

PS - update - actually thats a bit of a red herring because I just closed IE and the damn thing stayed there. I also note that it started up shortly after boot up but not until I'd loaded some other program first.

I've run Hijack this and it looks like this....

This red dot in toolbar '' activity is being recorded '' is indicative of pcpandora software.

If you think this has been placed on your machine without your knowledge, it breaks the company's EULA.

By acknowledging this EULA, you agree to inform anyone whom you may record that their Internet and PC usage may be monitored or recorded.
That makes it malware.

Please follow MicroBell's 5 Step process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, please post the requested logs.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Thank you - with some more digging I actually got into it - I am not sure who in the home installed it but suspect my son ! Mind you I have admin rights and it wont let me 'uninstall' it with the file/uninstall tab it has, says I need 'admin' rights ! But I have admin rights.

It also does not appear under control panel, there must be a way to get at it somewhere in the registry or something. Its not in proper angry mode as this is only the trial version , so nothing much can be gleaned from the software, its just an irritation.

many thanks for your help though

There should be a password whoever has installed it has used. If the password is entered, the software can then be uninstalled.
