Recycle bin files are not visible in XP

I can not view the recycle bin files on my computer. When I open the folder no files are visible however I know the files are in the recycle bin because when I use cleanmgr to check the size, the recycle bin size is large. Any ideas?

Allow your computer to show hidden and system files. If there are system files in there you don't need to be emptying it, btw.
