recovery ?

I have a acer 3000 and the OS quit !! I have tried to do a erecovery but unable to get it started ... the D2D is enabled and I did the Alt+F10 but it does nothing ... is their another way in ?
I looked at the recovery partition and it seems to be ok ( used DOS disk ) but unable to run anything in it.

ok i finally got a error msg on start up
system32/drivers/fastfat.sys missing or corrupt

i do not know if this changes anything but sure could use some help !!
