Recovery CDs

My friends computer died last night, it wouldn't boot up at all. He took it to work with the recovery CDs that I had created on the computer when it was new. The IT guy there recovered WinXP with Disk 1 but didn't have time to recover everything so my friend called me tonight to run thru the rest of the recovery disks, there are a total of 6.

I've never used a set of recovery disks before but I expected to put them in and click Next a couple times and have them just start reinstalling whatever info they have and then say Insert next disk or something till it was finished. It wasn't that easy, we could open them and found the same 2 folders on each but no Autoplay or anything. Can anyone tell me how to get the silly things started on the recovery process?

This is a Compaq desktop that's a couple years old. No additional hardware has been installed since making the recovery disks. I know this should be easy but I don't know where to start. :4-dontkno

You have to boot from the first CD and then the computer will subsequently ask you for the rest of them. Make sure the computer is set to boot from a CD first in the BIOS.
