I have an old hard drive that was failing that I replaced. Some folders were marked as private by myself and now I am trying to recover the files...

I am booting off of my new hard drive.

I might be able to still boot off of the old drive and change the settings but it is risky and I am probably losing data by the minute the way this thing is acting...

Please help me!!! lol

Thanks,

Is this XP Pro or XP home? Is both accounts setup as administrator?

Try copying the folder to the new harddrive and see if you could change the permissions on that folder.

Both accounts are/were administrator accounts and I tried copying the folders but it says access denied, and I don't see anywhere in the folders properties to change the setting.

In fact in the properties it lists the folder as having no files in it and a size of zero... Both of which I know to be false.
