Twice over a 3 week period I suddenly received the BLOS message, the text was the same as one of your submitters had which prompted him to place his question on the forum. I have windows XP with service pac 2-maybe more.

I am a real novice so my question is what is the BSOD saying:
RQL_not_less_or_equal
if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer is properly installed if this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer or any windows update you might need

if problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press F8 to select advanced start up options and then elect safe mode

thanks for any help--the journey begins

Microsoft say "Typically, this error occurs when a driver uses an incorrect memory address. Other possible causes of this error include an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, or incompatible software."

So, had you installed any new programmes before these BSOD's started? New hardware?

thank you for your interest and offer to help. the only software that I added for sure is System Mechanic on my two computers an older compaq and a 3 year old Gateway that I have used very little (the problem PC). The program works well on both machines. Here is a problem I am experiencing-if this is any connection. Websites tell me that I have java script turned off or do not have the latest flash player. I have tried to download flashplayer repeatedly by first responding to the warning type message that says you may need to install active x control, which I have done and see it is included in my list of programs, but there is no reference to having downloaded flash player.

On the adobe support website there was an option to download something that would then let you down load flash player as an administrator, but can not find in my list of programs if I actually did something. This was after I had starting trying to download flash player.

If you do not think this is connected to the BSOD message, do you have any suggestions as to why I am not able to download? What if I did a system restore date as far back as I can--would this be any type of a diagnostic action on my part?
thanks from USAF-ret

In response to your question of adding software, I forgot that I added the below shareware as a result of reading about it in one of the online PC magazines and it has been great to let me use word 2007 with the old formats. have not had any problems that I know of-if this is a possible reason for the BLOD

UBitMenu: Classic Menu for Office 2007
UBitMenu has become a global success with over 100'000 downloads in just two months. After downloading and installing your languages classic menu, you will see the menu as the second tab of the ribbon in Word 2007, Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007. Happy users please tell your friends and publish this page on your blog. If it simplifies your work then please convince your boss to buy a commercial version to keep us going.

The problem in analyzing this issue is the infrequency of the BSOD.

You can disable some of that and other things and boot up to see if it is indeed recent 3rd party issues.

Click start, run, type msconfig and press enter.

Look under Startup and uncheck anything you added recently.

Look under Services, check the box to hide MS Services, and, again, uncheck anything running as a Service you added recently.

Then reboot and run like that for a week.

If it happens 2x again, post a couple minidumps.
