When I'm at work, sometimes the IT support group says "we'll have to rebuild your computer" and sometimes "we'll have to reimage your computer." Are these two terms interchangeable? Like you just pop an ISO cd into the computer and it reinstalls(rebuilds/reimages) the entire OS from scratch? Is "reformat" also another interchangeable term?

Thanks!!

It sounds like semantics at work here.

"format" refers to wiping the hard drive so it is blank.

"reimage" = using an image (an identical copy of the hard drive created at a prior point in time) to replace that which is currently on your hard drive

"rebuild" = could be the same as "reimage", unless they are referring to hardware replacement.

Regards. . .
