When you boot a PC, it is always from the Hard Drive.

The word booting means, "turning the PC'" on.

Yes I know that but the question is "If I reboot Windows Xp from hard disk do I need to disconnect all peripheral devices before I begin?"
Ok I should have aked "If I use Xp System Recovery from the local hard disk do I need to disconnect all peripheral devices before I begin?"
Hi Billy, if by rebooting you mean reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows to the hard drive, then yes you do need to disconnect your peripheral devices (printer, joystick, etc)

Edit: I just saw your last post.
It wouldn't hurt, but I don't it's necessary if restoring from an image on the hard drive. I know I've never disconnected anything when doing an Acronis restore/recovery.
Okay you do not have to disconnect the peripherals but you do have to reinstall the drivers.
Thanks for nothing as they say
