Rebooting and Blue Screen!

2653 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  gdavge2003
I just got this new computer a few days ago and its:
HP Pavilion, Pentium 4 CPU 3.00Ghz, 2.79 GHz, .99 Gig of RAM with Service pack 2.
Whenever I play a game such as Guild Wars, Half Life 2, etc. it automatically reboots... this happened 3 times when I was playing and after the reboots it would say "the system has recovered from a serious error".

On the 4th time, I got a blue screen and it says:
Stop: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005,0xBFACEF94,0xAA06299c,0x00000000)
ialmdd5.DLL - Address BFACEF94 base at BFA34000, Date Stamp 42a73847

Also, I believe I have a decent video card to play the games I mentioned (autodetect and it sets everything on high quality and no messed up pics here and there). Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks

Oooh.. Yeah, i'm using a video card thats "onboard". I have my ATI 128 mb videocard still in my old XP (which my parents use)... The reason I didn't take it out and put it in this one was because I thought the video card in this was already good enough.. Oh well.. gonna replace video cards right now.. I'll post again if something still comes up, thanks!
lol... after about 40 minutes of fiddling with my 2 computers.. i have found out that my video card was AVG.. and this new computer only has 3 PCI slots.. :deveous: ... time to buy a new video card! lol..

EDIT:
Oh wait.. I just checked my current video card and the info is:
Chip type: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910Gl Express cihpset
DAC Type: Internal
Memory Size: 128 MB
Adapter String: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset
Bios Information: Intel Videos BIOS

I noticed that the memory is 128 mb.. which is enough to play my games.. so.. any help to get this working properly? Btw, the blue screen pops up when I turn off the auto reboot thing..
I reinstalled the driver and set it to a lower resolution (directions from Intel) and now it works fine! Thanks for the suggestions
