My ex husband came into my home and stole my computer yesterday. I called the police and he brought it back but it keeps saying reboot and select proper boot device. Can you please help me. Carol Fox

Enter the Bios and go to the Boot Area. When there. look for a Hard Drive Priority or something close to that. In there, make sure your Bood drive is listed first....then, save and exit and see if that works.

Sounds like your husband took out the Hard Drive. Boot into Setup (Bios) and see if the Hard Drive is being detected.

Hi cfox,

Also look at the bottom of the laptop and see if there is a rectangular piece missing. Depending on the model of the laptop, the hard-drive sits at the bottom of the laptop, the side of the laptop, or the hard-drive is inside the laptop.....below the keyboard. Hopefully your ex-husband didn't throw the laptop to the ground before he gave it back to you.
