So I have recently just purchased a new entertainment (Samsung HT-X250) and have been having fun connecting everything up to my HD TV etc. However, everything going well until the last step where I am unable to render my SPDIF sound in 5:1 surround sound. I know that both the home theatre system has 6 channels, as I can see them, and the sound card can handle 5.1 and the driver version is very recent. (Sound card- Intel High Definition Audio) I am trying to connect sound through a Toslink optical cable from the SPDIF jack to the optical in on the Samsung.
Nevertheless, the best I can do is get 2 channels and the Realtek Audio Manager only recognises 2 channels so ouputs two through the Digital in mode on said Samsung home theatre. My STB and obviously the built in DVD player outputs 5.1 surround sound, and I have even changed Advanced Speaker Settings to 5.1 surround sound rather than the desktop speakers/2 channel speakers it recognised before hand.

Hope this problem rings a bell with someone, or else my investment will not be realised.....the DVI-HDMI picture output is excellent on the other hand (From laptop to HD TV)
