I am having the following problem.

Two days ago while I was listening some mp3 my computer went off. The technician told me that I had to change the power supplier which I did. Here is the problem. While everything is ok, when I try to play some music or a video after some seconds the music freezes while the bar shows that the mp3 works properly. Again after some seconds the music starts again, something that goes on over and over. I tried to reinstall the drivers, nothing happened. I deactivated the sound card and i tried a movie. Although I heard no sound, the movie played normal without any freeze. After I activated the sound card the above problem appeared again. It is a strange thing as it happens for the first time. It seems like it freezes and after a while it start again. I tried everything I know with no results. I am afraid that there is a problem with the sound card but I am not sure. If anyone knows or have an idea of what I have to do please tell me. Thanx for your patience to read this thread.

hi there,

a friend of mine just contacted me with the same exact problem. she had realplayer on her computer and wanted to get rid of it, so she did in the remove software tool in xp. realplayer is notorious for installing a bunch of other garbage with the video viewer, so she deleted some of that and deleted something with the word 'realtek' in it. i'm guessing it's her audio driver, because now she has that same problem with playing music files, and adjusting volume, and etc. i had her download a current realtek ac97 driver from their website, which didn't do anything. i'm glad i found this thread, hopefully someone can help us out and we can all move on with our lives and be happy.

thanks in advance for any help.
