My PC has just randomly started acting very weird. Basically i cannot execute a program or file. I tried to do a system restore and i have 0 restore points. MSconfig will not run from run bar however if i goto the actual thing in WINDOWS folder i can run it from there.

The computer is a Dell Dimension C521, its standard apart from an up-graded graphics card. The system is running on Windows XP Pro.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi BunnyGirl88 and welcome to TSF. I just have a couple questions. Did this problem start around the time you added the graphics card? And what is the make model and wattage of your power supple unit? Thank you.
Hi mcorton, and thanks. No the graphics card was installed about 6 months ago.
I'm not sure how to find out the make model and wattage but trying to go anywhere on this computer including the computer settings gives me an error ("C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe Application not found") Almost everything, programs, using command prompt, sytem restore, etc is giving me this error. But all the programs are actually still there so it seems the pathway is missing? (that's what im guessing but im just a noob...). I did have a virus a few days ago but i ran a anti virus program and the problems i had at that time disappeared after that so i thought this didn't have anything to do with that virus. But i could be wrong. Any ideas??
Thank you~
Please download Malwarebytes Malwarebytes and run a full scan. This could well be left over fragments of your virus or one that wasn't detected and cured. If it turns up nothing, You should read the info below and submit a new thread to our awesome spyware team.

We recommend that you read this article…
"NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help"; follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help section of the forum.
(Simply, click on the coloured links to be re-directed.)

Please ensure that you create a new thread in the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help Forum; not back here in this one.

When carrying out The Malware Removal Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed.
However,it is extremely important to make mention of the fact that you could not complete any of the steps in your post to the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds.

Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can.

After your system has been verified as clean, if your are still experiencing those problems come back here and we will assist you further.

The above has solved my issue completely. I will run this program regularly in future. Thankyou for your help.

Can you tell me how you knew this program would fix my problem? I ran AVG Free, Avast Free, Norton Full and nothing found anything, Curious to learn.

Thanks =)
Mawarebytes is one of the best antispyware available. Just an AV isn't enough. I hope you aren't running them all together. Running more than one AV can make them all useless. I would recommend keeping AVG free and uninstalling the others.
Ah i see, No im not running all 3 AV's i started with the norton i actually paid for, a friend suggested Avast so i got rid of norton and gave that a try. Still didnt detect anything. Then i used AVG (after getting rid of Avast) and it found a few virus's so i did everything it suggested, computer worked fine for a few days then this all happened.
