my computer isn't regestering my hardrive i've tried evrything i know how to do including making a bootable cd since my floppy drive is dead it reads like this i start it up it boots fine but before it runs windpows it says please insert a bootable cd i think it may be the ide cable but i'm not sure any ideas?

What is the boot sequence set to in the bios?
In your case it should be set to boot to Hard Drive first.
Or whatever your bios uses.....C or IDE 0

Couple questions,
Is this a new Harddrive?
If it is do you have the jumper set correctly, either to master or CS if your bios supports it. Also make sure the drive info is set to auto and not user defined or anything else.
If its not new, when did the problem start? What were you doing immediately prior to the problem.
