Re: Service Pack 3 setup can't find clbcatq.dll

Got the same issue. Except this is a ASUS motherboard and a HP
computer system XP pro. I notice when I copy same dll file from
another machine of same XP pro onto a flash drive. These files
(clbcatq.dll and clbcatex.dll) can not be see from explorer or
command prompt. Will contact MS support for help.

Well, Found the issue was a malware in the system that
Window live one caught recently. Afterward, I was able to upgrade
to SP3. Make sure to have the latest spyware and malware in your
system. :smooch:

Re: Service Pack 3 setup can't find clbcatq.dll

After many hours and many scans I found a file called clbdriver.sys in windows\system32\drivers that was the problem. I had to remove the hard drive and view with another computer as files starting with clb were not visible even when viewing hidden files.

Re: Service Pack 3 setup can't find clbcatq.dll

Coupl you please post the complete details of the files you renamed or replaced.
I have the same problem. If I use Explorer it does not show that I have clbcatex.dll and clbcatq.dll. I know that they are on a floppy for example but I can't copy them to the proper directory because explorer does not show them.
Thanks

Like I said I had to remove the hard drive install it as a slave and remove clbdriver.sys . It could be some other file starting with clb that is the problem. I compared the files on the infected computer with a known good one.

Re: Service Pack 3 setup can't find clbcatq.dll

Well, long story short I was finally able to get my computer back on track and install Service Pack 3.
I used GMER and some virus software and I had to slave my hard drive to a good computer.
The bad files from Malware were hidden in my system DIRECTORY but GMER was able to find them and by slaving the drive I was able to replace the bad files.
Look for clbdriver.sys in the system32\drivers directory and erase it.
remove and replace clb.dll clbcatex.dll and clbcatq.dll FROM THE SYSTEM32 DIRECTORY.
This entire matter started when I got directed to a bunch of porn sites, was blocked from updating my antivirus programs, was blocked and redirected from almost all good websites.
The final dirty drick was an attempt to sell me antiviruspro2008 by constant popups. This is a scum bag virus program seller. DO NOT PURCHASE ANTIVIRUS 2008 PRO!
