Hi all,

I'm running a data logging program on a embedded pc runnning win2000. The data comes in via a RS232 cable, through a USB converter and into the pc's USB port. The data comes in 24/7 and is fairly hefty, the rs232 runs at 230400 kb/s. About twice a month for no specific reason the converter craps out. I have to remove the usb device and replace it before I can restart the loggin programs. Any ideas on what the problem is? Maybe some kind of flow control problem? Any way I can check?

Any help would be appreciated, this has really been bugging me.

Win2k did not support usb devices very well.
If you have an open pci slot, you could buy a card with a serial port. This should be more stable.
Is this 2k server or workstation?

The pc doesn't have any pci slots; it's built to be small and live in the field. It's windows 2000 workstation. Sorry for the late reply, I've been running around outside for a while.
