Massively
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
Justin.tv - Streaming live video broadcasts for everyone
and also once when playing Final Fantasy 14.

he's already tried putting a fresh install of vista on it but it still does it.
ive told him it could be the graphics card but i thought id post on here for advice incase im wrong lol.

hope someone can help

Sounds like graphics card and/or motherboard are the first things to replace. It would be extremely helpful if we knew the hardware though.

Bad driver can cause system shutdowns? Never knew this.

Either way, the dxdiag report shows it's an alienware desktop. We all know the kind of PSU's Dell, and other OEM manufacturer, puts in their system, that's why I'm asking about the PSU.

He says the PSU is 750w can't read the rest on the sticker it's in japanese lol and the specs are (like what was in the dxdiag):

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2
System Manufacturer: alienware
System Model: Area-51 7500 R6

Motherboard Model: ASUS P5N-D
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM (he didn't know what make the ram was)

DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Display Memory: 1266 MB
Dedicated Memory: 499 MB
Shared Memory: 767 MB

Hope this helped!

would replacing the graphics card fix this do you think?

after all the problems started happenin after the tv fired and he tells me that one of the ports on the graphics card (that the tv was connected to) after a few minutes of being on desktop he gets blue screen.

There label on the PSU should have the band & model printed in English.

Have a good look at the PSU. The PSU could have contributed to the GPU failing.
