Random shutdowns

I'm having a major problem with my computer--one of two things is always happening:
(1) Every few minutes that I'm online (very often!!!!), IE (6.0 SP1) randomly closes, with the error message being:
AppName: iexplore.ex
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.11006
Offset: 000245cc

(2) Several times a day, on some days, the computer randomly restarts. When it comes back, it is extremely slow until it is manually restarted, at which point the process starts over, with IE closing often, then the computer eventually restarts.

I'm running a Celeron 1.7 with 512MB Mushkin Enhanced PC2700 DDR Ram, and Windows XP Home SP1.

Any help in correcting this is greatly appreciated!
Jeff

Open taskmgr.exe. What processes are running under your user name?

Sounds like you have a memory leak or bad memory.
