Hello there, first time posting here.
I've been googling about my problem but most of them don't really tell me anything or just have something different problem than mine, so I decided to look for some help here.

So at random times I get ping spikes which for online gaming is quite unacceptable, it's like i lose internet connection for around 2-5 seconds and it can happen really random from every 3-4 minutes up to once an hour. Also, this started about 2 weeks ago, until then I didn't really have problem with this.
So what I've tried is pinging my router and google.com at the same time in cmd and it turns out I lose my connection to the router at random times which also makes me lose connection to google, so I'm trying to figure out what the problem might be. When I ping the router, sometimes it just gets ms=1425(or any high number) or it simply says Request timed out. I'm using wireless btw so is it wireless adapter on it's last legs or maybe a router problem? Any suggestion would be awesome. :)

If I need to post my specs and hardware let me know, but if it's relevant I'm using windows 7, have a ZTE router and edimax RT73 usb wireless adapter with a little antenna. The distance from adapter and router is around 6-7 meters. Note that this started happening around 2 weeks ago, and I haven't changed anything since then.

You've answered your own question.
A wifi connection should have a relatively low ping time ideally all packets less than 5 ms.
Chances are you are using 2.4GHz which there are only 13 channels (some Countries and devices restricted to 11 channels).
You therefore need to change the wireless channel and ping your router until you find the channel with the lowest latency.

If you have an Android phone you can install the free App Wifi Analyser:
How to Find The Best Wi-Fi Channel For Your Router on Any Operating System

All routers use by default channel 1, 6 or 11 so by using an intermediate channel like 3 o4 or 8 or 9 performance can be improved. It may not be possible to get a clear channel. Therefore you might consider upgrading to a wifi and adapter that support 5GHz band.
Hope that helps.

So I've connected my laptop to the router directly with a wire and it seems like at the times of my ping spikes, the connection on the laptop seems fine and smooth, so I figured it must be my adapter. Well I borrowed my dad's airlive high power adapter (my signal is now 5/5 and it picked up some neighbour networks too lol) and my signal strength is 88-90% but I'm still getting those spikes. Now, the only thing that remains is the router itself and he might be the cause of all this. MY router is: zte zxdsl 931 series.
So I tried switching channels a bit and on channel 1 I still had the spikes, but I tried channel 2 and so far it works really well. I was able to detect 2 neighbour networks and they had channels 6 and 11. Looks like channel 2 works the best. I'll post again if something else happens.
