Router: Asus RT-N66U (Firmware: 3.0.0.4.376_3861)


I have an issue with my network card. I connect to my router without any issues however randomly I will lose connectivity.

The order this normally happens

* Internet works fine. Connected to internet. Able to log into router. Wireless Icon shows bars
* Internet stops working, cannot log into router Wireless Icon shows bars
* Internet stops working, cannot log into router Wireless Icon shows bars with yellow triangle "limited connectivity"

At this point two things happen. It fixes itself within 1-3 minutes or I use the quick key to disable and enable the wireless adapter. Once that is down everything works fine until the next time the issue pops up. Sometimes this is 5-8 times a day other times it seems like once a week.

While this happens other devices have no issues. Only this laptop.
I believe this has also happened when connected to different wireless network.

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

First:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Then:

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found, here's how


Then:

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type or copy and paste the following command:

ipconfig/all > 0 & notepad 0

and press enter.

Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Don't use IE. I use Chrome but this issue happens with all browsers..... no proxy found

Performing these steps in the sequence requested can often identify issues that do not show when performing them randomly . .

You do have two extraneous connections you can delete, but those are not likely an issue.

Assuming the first wireless signal is yours, it look good and strong, so I would suspect either interference from microwave, cordless phone or other IR emitting device.

You have the newest Wireless adaptor driver from the manufacturer?

It happens no matter what room I'm in it how close I am to the router.

It has happened when on other networks.

I'm using the latest Intel driver. It's newer than the one HP had. However I can't find the correct driver on the HP website anymore.

The notebook manufacturer sometimes uses the manufacturers drivers better than intels'

If it happens everywhere, I would suspect either bad driver, or failing adaptor
