RAM speed difference with moterboard

930 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  freak of nature
I am helping my brother upgrade his computer and am looking for RAM at the moment. I was wondering if there would be problems if the RAM that I bought was a lower speed than the motherboard specs say is standard. I know that if the RAM is higher speed then the motherboard will treat them as the slower speed of the motherboard. Will the motherboard default to it's higher speed or to the RAM's lower speed?

What motherboard do you have, and what memory sticks are you looking at?
U mean ram's bus speed, rite???Then if ur ram's bus speed dosen't fill the requirements of the motherboard,it won't work.
