If you're running Windows 98, you need to adjust the VCACHE setting for memory over 512mb of RAM.

I have a Hp pavillion pc...I had Ram put in it...originally 64mb was told i could put 128 in it. Got the putor back and it doesn't work can anyone tell me what the problem is and would it be major.

If you took it to someone to upgrade the memory, I'd take it back and insist they get it working! As far as what memory it accepts, you'd have to specify the exact model, Pavillion is a generic name for a whole line of systems from HP.
