Hey,

At the moment I have an AMD 2400+ FSB 266 and 256MB PC-266 CL 2.5 /512MB PC-266 CL 2.5 RAM with my Asus A7n8x-x mainboard installed.

This mainboard supports Ram up to PC-3200. So I thought I could put in a 512MB PC-3200 seperatly.

When I tried to boot my PC the bios showed the new RAM correctly, but after the windows loading screen the monitor became black (just before the log-on screen). In fact the monitor didn`t even get a signal from my PC. So I started it in safe mode. There everything seemed to work fine, but later the fan of my grafic card even stoped. How can this all happen by putting in a new RAM?

Can this set up even work, because the FSB of the CPU is lower than the PC-3200 RAM?

I`d be glad for advice

welcome
Try it without the 256 stick and clear your cmos, either by the mainboard jumper, or take the button battery out for 10 minutes or so.

What power supply is installed? Did you maybe dislodge the video card installing the ram? Ram is seating securely?
