Rainbow Folders

I'm using a free little utility called Rainbow Folders to customise some of my frequently-accessed folders, to make them easier to find. It works well on the folders themselves, but some of the shortcuts I have created from them are intermittent inasmuch as sometimes they show the colour I have used while at other times, they just appear white. This problem only occurs with shortcuts that point to folders on my Synology DiskStation. Is there any way I can troubleshoot this? It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to rectify if there were a simple solution.

I don't have any problem using Rainbow Folders as I've used it in the past, but what is puzzling is why some of the shortcuts to the folder with custom colours keep losing their colour as in the screenshots I provided. At first, I thought it might be CCleaner that was causing it, but I've not used that for several days and it's still happening, plus if I do use it and then check my desktop straight afterwards, the colours are still there (if they were there before of course).

OK, that's a desktop problem, possibly occurring with Windows Updates. You can change the setting from bright to dark, but that is only a workaround. Are you familiar with right clicking the folder on your desktop and customizing in "Properties"? The actual icon is hidden in the desktop.ini file if that helps.
