Should be IDE. With AHCI Windows won't detect your SATA drives.
Raid and AHCI?
I have a gigabyte motherboard that has 2 onboard disk controllers. One is an Intel ICHR9 and the other is a gigabyte sata controller. I installed two hard drives as RAID under the Intel Controller. I have a SATA Blu-Ray dvd drive which is installed in the gigabyte controller. In the bios, I set the gigabyte controller to IDE mode for the dvd drive. BUt there is an AHCI mode and Raid/IDE mode. Should the bios for the second controller for the blu-ray drive be set to IDE or AHCI.
It was originally IDE but I changed it to AHCI and now the system won't boot Windows Vista64 but I need to reinstall the Vista anyway.. I just want to get the bios settings set correctly.

I set it to AHCI and the sata drive was recognized. According to the Gigabyte technical support it should be set to ahci.
