Hello,
I have this mobo: Asus A8V Deluxe with onboard Promise FastTrack 378 RAID controller.
I have attached 2 different SATA drives to the Promise RAID controller:
1. Hitachi 1TB with 16MB cache,
2. Samsung 1TB with 32MB cache
I did this to reduce the probability of 2 disks failing together within a short period of time.
First question:
Is this ok? Could there be problems associated with doing this? Do they have to be exactly the same?
Second question:
If the promise raid controller dies, how do I get to my data? Can I just attach one of the hard disks to a normal non-raid sata port and mount it and get to my data?
Thanks in advance.
