Hi all,

I have a Belkin wireless PCI Card which tests as follows.

Ping 127.0.0.1 works

Belkin Diagnostic tool pass on all tests.

All settings I can find are good.

Ipconfig shows "media disconnected."

Icon in System tray shows red (not connected).

I think radio is not working.

Any ideas???

First off, try resetting the TCP/IP stack and see if that helps.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Have you re-installed the drivers? Looked for updated drivers? Checked in Device Manager to see if any errors are listed for the adapter?

Device removed and reinstalled.

The driverrs worked last week I have no reason to presume they would have stopped working for any reason.

Device instance in Device manager shows no problems.

First and foremost the computer saw "new" hardware and loaded drivers. 1 of 2 things happened. either the drivers were corrupt and weren't uninstalling completely or the PCI slot is bad. I personally would look at my motherboard at all the capacitors (caps) and see if any of them have the tops pushed up like a bubble or have a crusty substance on the top of them generally in the middle. focus on the physically larger ones as they do most of the work and handle the bulk of the power thru the MB.
