Hey i've had the pc for a while and basically it is started flickering in game it is generally peridoically every miniute to 3 minutes. It's kinda like the screen jumps up.

System:
Sapphire Radeon 2900 XT 512mb
Silverstone OP750 PSU
Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Some Crossair memory can't remeber the name.

I've ran ATItools to see if it would give me any results, it gave me no offical errors but the screen started flicker madly when i started it and it settled down after 5 minutes or so.

I then left it for a while and restarted it then it started flicker like mad again and i noticed it dragged down automatically the core and memory sliders. This time it didn't calm down and cause the CCC to crash.

I also had GPU-Z running in the background. This showed that the GPU core clock speed was jumping up and down from 698.6 to 509.6 and the memory clock speed from 819.0 to 510.8.

So any help would be appericated.

Whats the cards temp under load. It should not be exceeding 70c.

It tended to level out at 105c, the average for the card though is 90 and 115 is the threshold so i though that was in acceptable levels?

I've read about something that sounds alot similar but since it's based on another card i'm reluctant to go about messing with it:

No , that is severe overheat. The 2900 is actually the only card in the video card quick list that is recommended to be avoided because of heat issues. You need to clean out the case dust , add more fans , lower the room temperature , ect . . . to get it under 75c min.

Well i have had the side off my case for a while because i though it might of been overheating and cleaned any dust.

I just went and played about with the fan percentages and have got it down to 68c from 80+ idle on 63% fan then ramping up to 100 at 80c. Is it safe for the fan to be running at those rates?

Yes , it's a 12v fan and it is designed to run at 100% without burning out. It more or less has a speed control to control the noise it makes. What is the case cooling setup? with a card like that you need lots of case fans.
