Quicktime problem - sound but no picture

To keep this as short as possible, my quicktime basically doesn't show any picture but has sound. This only started happening yesterday when i was converting videos to play on my ipod and my PC crashed. IT now does this whenever i play any videos:

I have tried reinstalling it but to no avail. Does anyone know how this could be fixed? Thanks.

Which version of Quicktime is it (help>about)?

Have you tried using VLC MediaPlayer just to check?

i believe its the latest version, 7.1.3.
And yeh, i've just tried the VLC mediaplayer to check if those videos work and they do.

Whats the format of the files your trying to play and can't?

Any HDV's?

Can you hear any sound?

Just videos which i would open with Quicktime, mostly mpeg-4, 3gpp and Quicktime's own format.

No HDV's and i hear sound with all the videos i play.
