Hey Everyone,

My friend brought over his home built PC with two drives in RAID 0. He needs the motherboard, processor and memory swapped out. My question is, how do I set up the new board to accept the drives as they are? Can I set up the controller on the new board and then just plug the drives up and boot? All help is appreciated.

If the controller is the same and the drives are kept in order.. probably. Best bet though would be to clone the raid volume with the raid intact to another disk, do the upgrade, then clone back to the raid.

CLone it off to another drive, set up the raid array then clone it back onto th raid volume. The problem is some controllers write information to the drive so if the controllers are not identical, then the new controller may not be able to read the old controllers information, or if they use two different stripe sizes, then nothing would be readable.
