Hello.

I have an old Toshiba Notebook. It was runnig when I bought it with Windows XP Home Edition.

After I reinstalled Windows XP, now I can not enter the Internet. I can not find the wireless connection, which we use in our household.

Do you have any ideas, how to find the wireless conection, or may it be something is broken?

Waiting for some ideas.

Thanks

and welcome to the Forum

If it has a wireless card, you will have to load the drivers for it. In Device Manager, what is shown with errors?

Hi Wireless_PC, welcome to TSF,

Can you post the model of your computer so that we can help locate the driver required.

After you reinstalled did you install the drivers again from the driver/ motherboard CD you should have? If not then post the model of the laptop and we will try to help.
Hello.

It is an old Toshiba Satellite M35X-S161.

I installed "Ubuntu" to see if there is a problem with the PC, but with it i could without problems our wireless network in our household.

I don't underastand this questions. (Note that I'm just a "layman" when it comes to PC-s)

Is there something I should download, and then Add to the PC after installing Windows?

Thank you for your time.
Right-click on My Computer and select Manage . . then Device Manager.

Look for anything marked with a yellow ! or reported as "Unknown"

I can not see anything yellow or reported as "Unknown".

Also, After I have reinstalled Windows XP, the icons are very larg, and the text as well. (This was not the case, when I "testinstalled" Ubuntu.)

What more can I do?
Sonds like you need to load the video drivers . . you should be able to find them at the Toshiba support site

Is it a special driver I need for this? If yes, where do I find it, because this model is old and i have not find anything that fits yet.

After Installing some different driver like WLAN and this chipset driver, i can finially see on the PC the list of the networks available around me. (I can see a list, with the different networks available in my neightbourhood. This is which was not there before.)

The only problem now, which is left: When I try to connect to your connection in our household, it just keeps "searching" and never connects. It does not even ask me to put the Code (because it should do.) We have a code (password) to be able to connect.

When I tri to connect to the other networks around me, it askes me for a code which it should (some I can connect without putting a passowrd, because they don't ask for one), but suprisingly, I does not do so when I want to connect to our own network. ?!?!?!??????!!!

All the other PC-s work without any problems, and when we connect, it asked us for a code, we put the password and are online, but not this Toshiba.

What can the problem be for this last (small) issue?

Thanks

The old Toshiba may not be capable of connecting with todays level of security . . try temporarily disableing securty on the router and see if it connects
