Hi guys
I have tried searching around the web for this, but am battling to get an answer. I am selling my laptop soon https://showbox.tools/ https://speedtest.vet/, and I want to know if it is possible to keep the copy of windows 8 that I have installed on the laptop, and install it on the desktop PC that I will be building.

If it is a full retail version of Windows that you purchased yourself, yes you can move it to another computer.

If it is an OEM version, no it has to stay with that computer and dies when the motherboard dies.

As Doc said, but if keeping retail version of OS, you must remove it before selling so the new owner will need to get their own OS. Otherwise, you can't reuse on a new computer.

If it is a Laptop, then it came pre-installed with an OEM Version of Windows 8, unless you purchased your own Retail copy and reinstalled over it. If the desktop computer is Pre-Built, it will have it's own OEM Copy of Windows. If you or a friend are building the Desktop yourself, you will need to purchase a Windows License.
