Well this is my situation.

I am trying to remote connect from my computer at work to my computer at home. Now all the computers at work use remote desktop to connect to our server that is not in my building. So the ports are already setup for it.

So now the thing is when i the computer name of any of the computers at work i can access other computers but when it comes for me to access anything through IP Address it doesn't work. not even if the comp has the administrator and password set up. Please help i would love to access my home comp from work but i am stuck.

You'll need to port forward port 3389 on your home router and any other firewalls for you to connect to the home system.

nope doesn't work because i can access the remote desktop for the server at work when i am at home.

Apples and oranges. The port forwarding is for INCOMING traffic. When you're connecting to work, you don't need any ports forwarded, because you're connecting OUTBOUND.

Try the port forwarding, because that's almost certainly your problem.

we shall see. I did a new property on my nortans 360. I tried to see if i could connect straight from my comp at home but no dice i'll wait tomorrow when i get to work see if it works out.

I'd disable all the software firewalls, and forward the port through your home router. When you get that working, you can work on configuring the software firewall.

yeah don't have a router. and i did a ping from work and it found it with out a problem. its just maybe a setting i forgot to do.
