Hi again all.

I was having issues with a computer a while ago, the thread can be found here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f15/motherboard-psu-issues-need-some-advice-617649.html

I never resolved the issue as i got busy with work. But today I was looking around the site, and found this thread here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f210/test-your-power-supply-with-a-multi-meter-151526.html

Anyway, i tested everything again (all voltages on PSU connectors within acceptable ranges), and I've gotten up to the step:

"With PS_On at ~0V...
4.
Check Pin 8 (Gray, Power_OK) should be 3~5V to signal the CPU that power is okay to start. If not above 2.5V then signal not high enough to trigger CPU for start."

My multimeter is reading zero voltage, ie is not high enough to trigger startup.

So the issue is my PSU?

Thnaks for your help!

Yes i've tested the 24pin ATX plug, and everything is within acceptable tolerances. When I ran through the steps on the PSU test on this site, the system passed all steps up to step 4:

"With PS_On at ~0V...
4.
Check Pin 8 (Gray, Power_OK) should be 3~5V to signal the CPU that power is okay to start. If not above 2.5V then signal not high enough to trigger CPU for start."

where the multimeter read 0v. My question is does this mean that my power supply needs replacing, even though voltages are within acceptable tolerances, or is the issue something else?

I'm still going with the low quality PSU being the problem.

Alright, so replaced the PSU with the Antec High Current Gamer 620w. Still having exactly the same problem.

Something i've noticed: Motherboard's manual states this regarding LED's:

"DRAM Power LED- This LED will light when the system’s power is on.
Standby Power LED-This LED will light when the system is in the standby mode."

So if I read this right, when the PSU has power, but the computer is off, only the "standby power" LED should be lit, and once the power button is pressed, both the DRAM and Standby Power LED's should be lit?
